dun’s own Instagram bio describes an indie and dream pop producer based in Vancouver. It promises to turn dreams into reverb-soaked major-seventh chords. On SoundBetter, the same producer lists work as a producer, artist and mix and master engineer. The speciality is dream, indie and bedroom pop, plus lofi.
That profile also fills in the background. dun started out on violin at the age of four and plays electric guitar, drums, bass and piano. Meanwhile, a song-a-day challenge on Instagram and TikTok shows the working speed.
The Bedroom Pop Lineage
dun names two inspirations, and both started out making music in their bedrooms. Dayglow began as Sloan Struble’s home project, and its debut album Fuzzybrain arrived in 2018. keshi built an audience in the same way, with home-made releases such as the 2019 EP skeletons. Those two names say more about the production direction than a genre tag does.
The single before this one took a different route. White Wine was produced by Matt Piano, another Vancouver producer, whose own bio jokes about not actually playing the piano. So the last two singles went to two different Vancouver producers. On IT WASN’T MY FAULT!, every stage stayed with one of them.
