What a Split-Screen Cover Says About Make Up Your Mind, a Belz Single in Two Moods
The American Singer-Songwriter Starts on Guitar and Strings, Then Lets the Harmonies Lift
The cover of Make Up Your Mind is split down the middle. One half is a pale pink page with the title written by hand. The other is Belz mid-twirl in a long pink dress, at dusk. The new Belz single, released on 15 October 2026, is built the same way. It starts small and close, then turns into a bright pop and R&B jam.
Belz’s Make Up Your Mind is in our retro pop playlist below, and the coverage behind it is kept on the Belz artist profile. The single came to this desk through PopHits.Co Music Charts, which verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news titles. Listen to it first, then read on for how the arrangement turns.

Make Up Your Mind Starts Close, Then Belz Lets the Arrangement Open Up
So press play and the handwritten half comes first. Guitar, soft pads and strings set the scene, and the voice is left exposed. It plays like a diary entry read aloud. That suits a lyric about making excuses for someone who will not choose you.
Then the twirl. Drums come in at an easy pace, the mix brightens and the harmonies start to stack around the lead. The yacht-rock touch is in that groove: it sounds carefree while the words are anything but. Still, the lead voice stays at the centre throughout, with the harmonies around it rather than over it.
Uranium Waves, which reviewed the single three days after release, singled out that change of scale as the key to the song. Fair enough. A song that changes its mind, about someone who cannot make up theirs.

Belz Wrote Make Up Your Mind, and a Berklee-Trained Prog Metal Player Produced It
That control starts with the writing. Belz is a singer-songwriter based in New York, United States. Formal lessons in voice, piano and guitar began at 10, with jazz and classical training from Berklee graduates and teachers. Belz, credited as Isabella Bianca Scolaro, wrote the words and music and is the only singer on the track. So every harmony in that stack is one voice, multiplied.
Mike Midura produced it. He graduated from Berklee College of Music in music production and engineering. Since 2018 he has worked at Cybersound Recording Studios in Boston, on pop, hip-hop, metal and folk records. He also plays in the prog metal band Atomic Guava. On paper, that is an odd match for a pink-dress pop single. In practice, the production holds back, and the quiet opening is left to breathe.
That one-voice stack has a famous model. Jacob Collier went viral in 2013 with split-screen videos in which he sang every part of the harmony himself, and those videos ran to millions of views. A split screen and a stacked voice: this single lands on the same two ideas, one on the cover and one in the mix.
Silk Sonic made the case for the retro side. Leave the Door Open, released in March 2021, is Philadelphia soul, R&B and pop shaped by quiet storm. Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak sang it as a modern single. Belz takes that 1970s polish and points it at a situationship.

Where Make Up Your Mind Goes Next, From Erase You to an Eight-Song Belz Project
The single is also a starting point. It opens an eight-song project that moves from waiting on someone to choosing yourself. Another single followed two weeks later: Erase You, out on 29 October 2026, a title that sounds like the next step in that story.
It ends a long gap, too. Belz released six singles between 2021 and 2023, from Dirty Sneakers to Love and Gucci Gloves. The stage work in between went out under the full name. It includes an Off-Broadway debut as the Queen of Hearts in Alice by Heart and a solo show at The Green Room 42. This year it also meant lead vocals in five main-stage productions for AIDA Cruises. BroadwayWorld announced that Green Room 42 show in December 2024.
Live, the rollout runs through TikTok, radio and shows around the city.
This one is for listeners who like pop with R&B harmonies and a retro shine. It also suits anyone who has spent too long waiting on a reply.
AltPop.News’s curator team: “Play it on headphones and listen for the moment the harmonies arrive. In three minutes and 34 seconds, that is where the handwritten half of the cover turns into the twirl.”
Half page, half twirl. The cover showed how Make Up Your Mind would move before a note played. The rest of the eight-song project will show which half wins.
